 The NEXUS Level 3A Soft Armour panels are a high quality lightweight solution and have been specifically designed to back a 10″ x 12″ Armour Plate.  They are manufactured in the UK using SB51 Dyneema with an Aerial Density of 5.3 Kilos metre squared.

Nexus Soft Armour combines 2 elements very rarely found in commercial armour.  Nexus panels are NIJ Level 3A approved and have a V-50 Fragmentation rating in excess of 630 meters per second.  This means that Nexus Soft Armour is capable of stopping 9 mm handgun and 9 mm Sub (MP5) at higher velocity in addition to .357 SIG and .44 MAG.

Although Soft Armour will stop a projectile, the degree of energy that is absorbed by the body, known as the Back Face Signature, is far less.   In Nexus Soft Armour, NIJ Level 3A permits up to 44 mm of energy absorption (this usually results in bad bruising and even broken bones).  Our Nexus panels on average reduce this effect to only 25 mm of back face signature.

In addition, Nexus Soft armour has v-50 in excess of 630 m/s which is 30% greater than standard NATO issue panels.  This means that Nexus Soft Armour gives even higher levels of protection against the impact of shrapnel from I.E.D.’s and grenades as well as greater ballistic protection from smalls arms and 9 mm sub machine guns.

  • Other:  Know your provincial rules and regulations regarding the purchase and use of body armour.  The Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Nova Scotia each control who can legally posses body armour.  NAS Guns and Ammo will not sell body armour to individuals in these provinces without first obtaining a copy of the purchaser’s documentation which provides proof that they are legally allowed to purchase body armour in their province of residency.  For all other Canadian Provinces and Territories, no proof is required.

  • .357 SIG at 448 m/s x 6 shots
  • .44 MAG at 436 m/s x 6 shots
  • A V50 Fragmentation of 630 m/s in accordance to Stanag 2920 addition to using 1.1g FSP
